"No way that'll be too late!" Jun shook her head at Stardust. "You know how crowds get when there's imminent danger, they'll get all out of control and some people would just freeze on the spot." She crossed her arns at the chest, periodically looking towards the stage. The Sorceress seemed to be continuing her speech. Weren't those people bored?
"Now, you say the Sorceress just blabbed out that the bomb is in the sewers? You know what, the hag just made our job easier. All we have to do is take her hostage and command the crowd to disperse or KABOOM. No need for decoy. Stardust, you lead the group to bomb the tower, I'll do the abducting bit. I'll catch up with you when the crowd disperses." With a nod, she retrieved her sword from Stardust and started across the road towards the edge of the stage.

"If you don't remove that right now I'll sound the alarm"
"That won't be necessary!" Lawric blurted, hands held before him with open palms. He glanced over at Jun and felt a wash of relief followed by a tinge of guilt when he saw that she was making a quick exit. He quickly turned his attention back to the receptionist, and when he caught her gaze he faked a sheepish laugh.
"There's some crazy fuckers running around in this city, huh?" He gave another hollow laugh. The girl kept her hand near the alarm switch and eyed him with subdued curiosity, as if she could tell that something was not quite right about him.
What was Jun thinking?
He brushed away the thought and focused in on the situation he now found himself in. It was time to face the truth -- he had wasted enough time on this sweet-talking-the-receptionist tactic; he wasn't getting anywhere with her. The rest of his team was out there doing Hyne knows what, he had no idea where Deo was... The whole mission was starting to look pretty bleak. Lawric thought he was putting his best efforts into this, but if he really believed that to be true then he would also have to admit to himself that his best efforts were pretty pathetic.
This is why I'm not a SeeD. He thought cynically.
So what do you do when you can't get what you want the nice way?
Without further hesitation he pulled a Flare stone out of his pocket and closed his fingers around it, conjuring the power of the spell forth. A burst of fire whipped through the air around his closed fist. "Okay sweetie," He used his free arm to vault himself over the desk between himself and the girl and landed right in front of her. In the moment it took him to get over the desk she screamed and flipped the switch on the alarm. He wasted no time in wrapping his free arm around her tightly, pinning her arms to her torso. Lights flashed red and the sharp sound of the alarm filled the building.
She was screaming for help and trying to twist away from him. It was all he could do to hold onto her. He mentally rifled through every tool he might have at his disposal in a situation like this. Curaga and Protect are my only spells... useless. Hi-Potions... Phoenix Downs... It was rather sad, him trying to take a hostage. Other than the Flare Stone he didn't have anything remotely decent for this type of job. At least she was a petite girl; he would have to rely only on his strength versus hers. He tightened his arm around her and willed the flames around his fist to lick and a little longer.
"Stop struggling or you'll lose some hair," He grunted.
I hope these DotNA pigs at least have mercy for hostages of their own kind...
He turned and peered down the hallway, waiting for the onrush of security he knew would come...
Anyone who wants can jump in here and play DotNA security if they want. I don't care. ^_^ Otherwise I'll just do it I guess.

Jun and Stardust were talking so fast, Jax could hardly keep track of the plan, which seemed to be changing every minute.
"--hold the Sorceress hostage and tell the people to disperse--"
"--act as decoy in place of Lawric!"
"--bomb is in the sewers--Stardust you lead the group to bomb the tower!"
Bingo.
Wait a minute!
Jun was running towards the stage...to try and take a sorceress captive single-handedly?
She's insane!
At that instant, he heard a blaring alarm go off inside the building.
The fuck?!
Who had made the first move? His first move was to gaze through the front window and what he saw was nothing short of astonishing. It seems that Lawric was holding the receptionist girl hostage, and by the looks of it, he was doing a pretty convincing job. His hand was clamped over the girl's mouth and he seemed to be restrained her struggles rather violently. And was that a Flare stone in his hand?
"....protect the civilians right?" he muttered bitterly.
The alarm was still going, and it seemed to be getting progressively louder to the extent that passing people were beginning to take notice. In a few seconds, every armed personnel was going to come running down those stairs...
"Stardust!" he barked and grabbed her by the elbow. "I don't know what's going on with all these individual agenda's, but we're sure as hell not gonna going to get anywhere if we don't start operating as single unit. You follow?" He nodded his head towards the building. "It looks like Lawric is going to be needing some backup. So I think you and Deo better get in there quick! You three can take care of the bombing right? And bolt the doors when you get in, ok? I'll stand guard outside to keep any additional cops from entering. Plus..." For a moment he was distracted as he spotted Jun running towards the stage. He shook his head sadly. The girl had guts, but she was walking into danger's arms without a clue.
Jax looked back at Stardust and gestured with his rifle.
"I'll be on sniper patrol as well."

It didn't take long.
Security sure as hell was on it's way. He could hear the thundering boots of two dozen or more men competing with the sound of the alarm. He gritted his teeth together and tightening his arm around his squirming captive. He thought of Deo and wondered if his friend had made any progress on setting the bombs. He thought of Jaime and Vanesse and wondered if they were okay, if they were scared or hurt... He thought of everything from the time he'd accepted this mission to the moment he now lived.
Heh... distraction.
He thought of his little niece as he stared at the rush of DotNA security charging him, and he could honestly say he never felt as bitter and regretful about the choice to be a part of this as he did right now.
Hyne help me.
He released the receptionist and shoved her away from him, closing his eyes and ducking behind the desk.
Skadi...
His guardian made no sound, not a rustle within his mind. The DotNA troops drew in closer, he could hear their guns clicking and feel himself being surrounded.
Please... Skadi...
That was her nature. She was a wild and fickle spirit. Sometimes she came to his aid, sometimes she ignored his call.
He didn't have time to do anything more. Something heavy and hard cracked against the back of his head and his whole world went fuzzy and then black. He slumped forward and passed out to the sound of pounding boots surrounding him.
FYI this isn't a ploy to get everyone to go save Lawric! I would actually prefer that he be ignored and maybe just left behind for now. Remember how we discussed writing out characters? I still want to do that with this character, but I don't want to kill him off I guess (it'd be a little lame, he already died once >_>)
*shrug* I just feel like this part of the story is REEEEALLY dragging and he's a big part of the reason it is.

Jun surveyed the situation around the stage. There were a few security guys around, standing sparsely around the stage which was a given since this was suppossedly the new Sorceress. But at least there was no personal bodyguard up on stage so if Jun managed to get up there she might be able to pull it off. The crowd below the stage suddenly exploded with thunderous applause and the estatic townspeople swelled forward as if attempting to touch the sorceress like groupies at a pop concert. Jun allowed herself to be towed by the crowd towards the stairs of the stage. The security people appeared to be rather preoccupied at maintaining crowd control. Now she had her chance. She quickly squeezed past a few Sorceress fans and seeing a temporary gap in the security too busy trying to stem a particularly zealous group from rushing up the stage, grabbed hold of the rail, swung herself onto the stairs and sprinted up the stage. Ignoring the shouts of the security and deftly out maneuvaring them as she sped towards her target at the centre of the stage. She flung an arm around the Sorceress' neck and pressed the blade of Tien Nu lightly against it. "I AM THE PSYCHO BOMBER." She yelled into microphone cackling insanely (or what she hoped sounded insane). "DON'T GO NEAR ME OR SHE DIES! THERE IS A BOMB UNDERNEATH THE SEWERS LIKE YOUR NICE POLICEMEN SAID. BUT YOU DIDN'T WANT TO LISTEN! YOU LISTENED TO THIS OLD HAG!" She continued in a sing-song voice. Her hair still grungy and ruffled and eyes manic she did look like something was not quite right with her. The crowd started to ripple with fearful exclamations. Some were uneasily leaving the area. "IF YOU DON'T WANT ANYTHING TO HAPPEN TO YOUR BELOVED SORCERESS OR YOURSELVES YOU BETTER GET OUT NOW! COS AFTER TEN MINUTES, KABOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM AND THERE'LL BE LOTSA LOTSA SMOKE AND DUST AND DEAD BODIES IF YOU'RE STILL HERE!" Still with that sickening smile plastered on her face she turned swiftly still with the Sorceress as hostage to face the security trying to take her by surprise. "I wouldn't do that if I were you! If I die, the bomb goes off as we-elll! I'm not the only psy-chooo! You better run away too if you don't wanna dieee!" /That was graceful\ Sapphy snorted Psychos usually instill much more fear in people than just plain intimidation. The townspeople below the stage started screaming and running like their butts were on fire. --------------------- Erm I dunno if this fit with any kind of plot le STs have in mind but I figured it's about time the civilians started clearing out >.> And I don't think Lawric was a huge reason for the delay? But it's your call Oh I should mention there're two crying girls here. It's a such a headache

From his position, little Jun looked so tiny amongst the wave of crowding bodies. Jax was stunned as she suddenly leaped onto the stage and lunged towards the sorceress. Tien Nu glimmered in the sunlight--it's smooth blade pressed against the pale neck of the sorceress.
"I AM THE PSYCHO BOMBER!!!" Jun bellowed into the microphone.
A mixture of bemusement and anxiety registered in Jax's face as he watched the shocking transformation of Jun into the manic lunatic on stage.
"IF YOU DON'T WANT ANYTHING TO HAPPEN TO YOUR BELOVED SORCERESS OR YOURSELVES YOU BETTER GET OUT NOW! COS AFTER TEN MINUTES---"
"KABOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!"
It was the magic word for instant chaos. A melange of yelling and shrieking filled the square, accumulating in volume as the screams echoed off the surrounding building walls. Like a swarm of ants, the crowd disintegrated in all directions. Jax barely had time to leap into the side alley before getting trampled by the hysteric mob of people.
"Well what are you waiting for?" he yelled at the remaining two. "Get going!"
The town square was soon emptied, offering him a clear view of the stage. Jun still had the sorceress in a hammer-lock grip, but looked frozen as security forces closed the circle around her. With no hesitation, he shouldered Ravaner and took aim at one of the guards. They were standing so close to Jun...he was having trouble finding a open shot. Sweat was beginning to accumulate along his hairline. He squinted one eye and pulled the trigger. The guard went down instantly and rolled off the stage.
Not bad...5 more to go.

After her extremely tiring performance (she had no idea impersonating a psycho was so energy-sapping), Jun realised she had only thought of abducting the Sorceress and making her threats, but not a way out. The circle of guards closed in on her making escape impossible. She couldn't use any of her offensive magic without getting caught in the midst of it.
If worse came to worse, she'd have to bust out a GF attack but that would definitely attract attention to her identity...as if that little performance up there didn't already.
"BACK OFF I SAID! DON'T YOU WANT YOUR SORCERESS INTACT?" She shouted at them and clutched the Sorceress closer to her.
Oh great Hyne get me out of this mess... As if answering her prayer one of the guards dropped down and rolled off the stage, his head sustaning even more trauma as it hit the hard ground with a loud crack. Blood started oozing out of his head forming a pool around it, inducing ear-damaging screams from a few of the civilians stupid enough to stick around. They certainly weren't sticking around now.
It was all she needed.
Utilizing the split second distraction in the guards' attention, she released the Sorceress from her grasp and shoved her, hard, towards the guards to the back of her, turned, slashed the ones in front and kicked another off the stage leaping through the gap in the circle. Something grazed her left ear and her head reeled from the pain; she almost veered off the stage herself but caught her balance just before her foot succumbed to gravity. More guards started dropping like flies from bullets out of nowhere. She barely managed to conjure a hastily cast and weak Ultima at the guards before they could recover from the chaos, but it was enough to delay them for the few seconds she needed to rush down the stairs and make her escape, ducking into the side alley.
She saw Jax shouldering his rifle in a manner that reminded her of dashing assasins in espionage movies.
"So there's where those shots came from." She said with ragged breath, mustering a weak grin at him. "You have just been elevated to Hyne status in my mind. Those hits were a godsend. But...as much as it's pleasing to see the crowd dispersed..." Her face turned serious. " We only have ten minutes until they realise it's a hoax. Let's go man." She trotted off to a run making haste for the Broadcast tower.

Plan? There was no plan. Deo didn't know what to do. Lawric was still inside the building and the civilians were screaming and running around everywhere. He knew one of the most important aspects of the mission was that no civilians be harmed but it was too late. If Deo didn't set the bombs now they would all be caught and killed by the swarms of police in the area.
Also, he only had Stardust for backup, which was not a very comforting thought.
"Cover me!" Deo hissed at her, crouching low and running towards the weak points of the tower's legs. "Your hair is horrible for stealth, you know that?"
Reaching the first leg, Deo rummaged through his bag and attached a pyrotechnic bomb to it. His fingers shook when he realized that he had to decide a time limit on when it should explode. He had no clue what to do. 5 minutes? 10? He prayed that Lawric was outside of the building already but there was no telling...
"Stardust, get inside the tower and evacuate anybody inside. I think Lawric's still in there. I'll give you 10 minutes before it explodes. I'll be fine, there's nobody even here. GO!" Deo pushed her and pressed the green button that initialized the first bomb.
Now to set three more...
Once Stardust was gone, Deo rushed to the next leg and had just pulled out the second pyrotechnic bomb when he felt it get shot out of his hand.
"Over here!!!" A soldier yelled, motioning behind him. A group of soldiers started marching towards Deo. "Surrender!!" One of them barked.
"Stardust!!! Backup???" Deo wimpered, backing up slowly. He looked behind him and realized that he had told her to leave and that he was completely and utterly alone.
Oh... crap

As soon as they rounded the corner, the sound of gunfire broke through the air. Exchanging a look of alarm with Jun, Jax dug his feet further into the ground as he sprinted towards the Tower.
When they arrived at the Tower, Jax suddenly gave the signal to halt. "We're outnumbered so we have to stay close together in there." He muttered with a concentrated stare at the glass entrance door. "If they surround us, we're screwed. So I'll try and disarm as many Dotna soldiers as I can when I go in. When you can, make for the roof and meet Deo. Oh and..." He quickly cast Protect on the two of them. Reassured by the cerulean aura surrounding him, he firmly gripped the forearm of Ravaner and locked eyes with Jun.
With a running start, he burst through the front door.

HAHAHA XD Wow, things are so crazy here. Jun's act ownz! All right guys, tell me if this is right. Stardust and Deo made it the top of the broadcast tower, somehow Lawric is unconscious downstairs lol (let's say Deo and Stardie managed to slip upstairs when he was knocked by security), and Jun and Jax just made it to where Lawric is, right?? ----------------------------------------------------------- "Holy!" A blinding surge of light enveloped the group of soldiers who was cornering Deo. Agonizing screams resonated from the mob as they fell to the floor to clutch their eyes. The security caught up already?! She definitely couldn't leave Deo now. "You idiot!"Stardust shouted at Deo. "You have 3 minutes till they recover! Finish planting the bombs and let's go!" ~*~ Jax and Jun burst through the front door and was welcomed by Stardust, Deo and another group of screaming security guards blinded by the Holy spell. Lawric was hanging unconscious between Stardust and Deo. "We did it!" Stardust was out of breath. She had been casting the spell non-stop. Just like inside the building, there were also people screaming and running away outside. They have about a hairbreadth chance to be able to pull everything without any casualty. Hairbreadth, in her opinion, is next to impossible, but... "Let's get out of here before the tower---!" An earth shattering sound was heard throughout as the bombs Deo planted upstairs went off! ------ Since all of us can move the plot, I just moved it haha XD Move it! Anyone? ST?

Clapping his hands over his head, Jax threw himself towards ground as a huge fireball erupted in the stairwell. The bomb explosion tore off the ceiling as hunks of shredded metal, cement, and glass crashed towards the ground, revealing the patches of sky above their heads.
Crawling on his stomach, he tried to decipher a pathway towards the exit through the chalky clouds of ash and debris that shrouded him in all directions. His ears were ringing...he could faintly hear shouting...but the words were so distorted and muted that they sounded like a foreign language. The whirling blare of sirens sounded off in the distance...only to grow louder in a piercing crescendo that painfully reverberated in his eardrums. Using just his arms, Jax dragged himself (hopefully) forward. Shrapnel and shards of glass had ripped through his legs that everything below the knees felt numb.
"Curaga..." he whispered through clenched teeth. He spotted a dark mass to his left. With some power restored in his legs, he inched closer towards what was actually a body.
"Lawric!" He pushed the unconscious man onto his back. Although his breathing seemed regular but his eyes remained firmly closed. The Curaga he casted on the vegetable wasn't accomplishing. Jax sighed, "Tch....what a waste...and there's no way I'm carrying your lazy ass out of here."
Suddenly, a violent gust of wind swept over his head. Through the hole in the ceiling, Jax spotted a grey helicopter circling above the wrecked Tower. Through a loudspeaker, a commanding voice boomed:
"THIS IS AN EMERGENCY ALERT TO ALL CITIZENS OF DOLLET. RETURN TO YOUR HOMES. THIS HAS BEEN A TERRORIST ATTACK BY GARDEN. HAVE NO FEAR. D.O.T.N.A HAS PLACED REINFORCEMENT TROOPS. AROUND THE PERIMETER AND WILL BE PATROLLING ALL ROADS FOR YOUR SECURITY."
"TO THE SURVIVING TERRORISTS. THERE IS NO ESCAPE. I REPEAT. THERE IS NO ESCAPE."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hee, I moved the plot too!

"Stardust! Dieg--" Jun called out to them when the words died in her throat at the sight of the unconscious Lawric between them. "What happened to him?" She ran across to help them, but a giant slap of explosive force flung her body across the room like a rag doll. She slumped against the wall, her butt and back throbbing from the impact of the explosion. The air was smoky, a fog of dust clinging to the air and it was hard to make out where everyone was. "Is everyone okay?" She cried out hoarsely, but there was no answer. An uneasy ripple snaked down her spine. Were they alright? She could see a faint glimmer of green Curaga light, and tried to clear a path towards its source using Tien Nu's sheath to swipe away the shrapnel littering the ground. It was a good thing the sheath was hardy enough do such a job without sustaining any scratches, but it was still something she would not do unless in emergencies.
She could barely see two fuzzy figures, and made haste towards them not really caring about the little nicks against her skin.
"Lawric! Tch....what a waste...and there's no way I'm carrying your lazy ass out of here." "Jax? You there? What's the situa--"
She was rudely interrupted by a booming voice and the chop-chop of helicopter blades above them. It seemed their identity had been exposed. But how? Was it that little psycho act of hers on that stage? Jun didn't think her face was that recognisable, but she was wrong? She screwed up! It had given the Dotna a chance to turn Timber even more against Garden.
She might as well just die on the spot. How was she going to face Headmaster Leonhart and Almasy? She could literally see their harsh and disappointed face right in front of her...
/If you think this is the time for that self-indugent oh-woe-is-me-it's-all-my-fault exercise you're deadly wrong.\ Sapphy scolded her harshly. But what did he know? He wasn't the one out there... /THIS ISN'T THE TIME AND PLACE FOR THAT!\ He roared.
Her head bobbed up jerkily, as if touched by a live wire.
"Jax we have to get out of here! The building is unstable, we'd get crushed!" She approached him, casting a worried look at Lawric's prone figure. Had he suffered a concussion? There was no time to speculate, nor acknowledge that queer little twist in her chest. Sliding one arm underneath Lawric's muscular shoulder, she tried to shift him in a more managable position while making little piggy grunts in her failure to do so. "A little help here please? And where is Stardust and Diego?"

"I have no clue where they are..." Jax staggered onto his feet with a grimace, wiping his face with the back of his hand. Gently, he brushed Jun aside and replaced her grip on Lawric with his.
"Gaaah!" he exclaimed as a sharp pain shot up his spine, and he nearly dropped Lawric. He fought back another howl as he looped his other arm underneath Lawric's shoulder. "You are a heavy mother---" he cracked with a slight wince. Looking down, he then noticed a large swelling on the back of Lawric's head. He gestured for Jun to come take a look. "Well, either someone kicked him in the back of the head..or beat him with a rifle...definitely a concussion. Anyways, he's not getting any lighter---Grab his legs please!" Tightening his hold on Lawric, he glanced back at Jun for an order. "Well it's your call. Either we get him outta this place now or we wait for the others. But you're right. This building isn't going to hold up for much longer."

'K, since the bomb has already gone off and this mission is pretty much completed, I'm gonna attempt a BIG time plot move here to wrap things up. If anyone has a big objection to this post feel free to ignore it and I'll delete it later I s'pose.
In the aftermath of the four consecutive explosions the tower behind them growled like a mammoth beast. Steel began to bend and sway as its concrete foundation crumbled beneath. Already pieces were starting to fall away, dropping from a hundred or more feet in the air to smash into the asphalt below.
On the ground level there was absolute pandemonium. Civilians ran in every direction emitting blood-curdling screams. Helicopter blades sliced through the air not far above them, the man with the megaphone still claiming they would have no escape. It was only moments before they were spotted and had DotNA guns trained on them. Even amidst the chaos of the falling broadcast tower, the Defender's didn't seem keen on letting their catch get away.
The group of SeeD's readied themselves for a fight, but before the first spell could even be cast or the first weapon swung, Ifrit fell from the sky. The Guardian beast landed thunderously between the group and their first wave of attackers, letting out a roar that rivaled the sounds of the crumbling building behind them. He hunched over slightly in front them, ready for battle. His hulking frame cast a shadow upon them and the flames licking his body made that shadow dance.
Where had Ifrit come from?
A second helicopter joined the first in the sky -- a Balambian helicopter. It lowered downward, descending in the narrow dozen or so feet between the group of SeeDs and the broadcast tower. The chopper door opened and Squall stood at the threshold. 'Get in!' was his order. He stepped backward into the chopper to allow them through the door. Stardust and Jun hurried inside, Jax and Deo following with Lawric in tow. Some of the DotNA operatives in the area fired at the helicopter, but Ifrit made swift work of them with great swings of his massive arms. He circled the group as they boarded the chopper like a protective mother wolf guarding her den, knocking away or burning anyone who dared an approach.
Squall slid the doors shut as the last person climbed in. He closed his eyes momentarily as the helicopter lifted into the air, and down on the ground Ifrit slowly vanished.
