A/N: Since we shouldn't neglect our charries XD I was listening to this song, and I guess that inspired me. Sorry if it's too sappy x.x I promise it's just a once in a full moon kinda thing haha Hope the link works =_=
-----------------------------------------------------
The hallway was wide and empty. At the end of it was a pink-haired girl, standing among the throng of SeeDs walking to and fro on the circular walkway. She was holding a pocket rice bowl, thinking about something.
Atmosphere?
Stardust stood outside the infirmary, debating whether she would visit Reese or not. Her face was hesitant and her eyes were fixed on the hallway. It wasn't like she didn't want to visit him. It just takes off her focus from the mission whenever she would see him in that condition. Those things that DotNA said earlier would flood her thoughts again, and she would just end up more miserable. She hated this kind of emotion. There was just too much of it to last her for a lifetime.
Stardust tried to turn around to go back to her dorm, but a part of her told her to stay. What would she do? Would it make a difference if she visited him one more time? Would that even make him open his eyes? It would just pull her deeper than where she was right now. If she got close too much, reality would hit her sooner or later and she was bound to regret it later on...just like the last time. Why not just pray for his recovery? She just met him afterall. She wasn't his wife or any of those nonsense to care about him so much. Why was she even wasting her time standing here?
Be safe, Reese... she thought, stepping back.
/Should I always have to remind you?/ Diwata spoke.
Stardust frowned, pursing her lips.
/Just do what you want./
"You're back," greeted Dr. Kadowaki as soon as the automatic door closed behind Stardust. " Make it quick. The patients have their curfews too, you know?" She smiled. "Visiting hours is almost over."
Stardust nodded. "He...I'm still looking for some progress," the doctor ended, a bit dull.
"It's all right," she replied, "Thank you." With this, she strode to the last cubicle at the back. The familiar figure of a guy being supported by plastic tubes and an oxygen mask welcomed her. He laid there in the white bed with the dextrose, an empty flower vase sitting on top of the small cabinet beside his bed.
"Hi...Reese," she said, coming to sit on the stool in front of the cabinet. "I'm back." She stared at his peaceful face for a while. "Uhm...right, I met your friends today. Gave us a hard time, trash-talked us, and all those stuff. I can see why you didn't like them so much. They're a bunch of lowlifes." She tried to smirk.
"You probably can't hear me, but......I'm not mad at you. I didn't when I found out." She looked down, carefully arranging her next words. "DotNA or not, I guess I still see you as Reese," she admitted. "Isn't that weird? Yeah....I think so too." Her eyes glanced back to him.
So peaceful...
"Anyway, tomorrow is the big day. Adel is almost finished...I don't know what I'll do when I see her face to face, but, I guess you can count on me when I say I'll be here when you open your eyes." Stardust stopped.
The beeping of the heart monitor was the only thing that she could hear. It was almost like talking to a wall. No, it was like talking to a wall. He couldn't hear her. She couldn't reach him. She was just making a fool of herself actually.
Stardust stood up. "I think I'll be going now..." she told him. But then again, it didn't matter, she just wanted to let him know. This was what she wanted to do anyway. Whatever happens after this, she had a reason to move on. This guy prevented her from losing faith in something she thought she had lost. She would return the favor, no matter what the outcome might be.
"Goodnight, Reese."
