She started when he touched her, light and casual and still so very foreign to her, and her fingertips brushed the place where his hand was, her expression thoughtful.
“Anyway, I think I’ll always see a bit of her when I look at you.” She looked up and he looked down and she felt…comforted. It was a nice thing to say. She wasn’t exactly sure why it made her feel better about things; maybe because she was so set on erasing Tomoe and Zacke was kind of telling her it was okay not to?
“Thank you.” She smiled faintly. “That’s nice of you to say.”
There was a pause, but it wasn’t as awkward as when he first came in. Polaris wracked her brain for something to keep the conversation going. “Are—are you going to the ball?” she asked hesitantly. Of course he had to go, it was mandatory, but…she was painfully stupid at these sorts of things, and it was the first thing that came to mind.
