Occurs simultaneously during "Chapter Five :: Debrief." This is Reese's version of events, after he is asked to leave the meeting. Written mostly for my own entertainment, but also to fill in what would have been a minor plot hole I s'pose. ^_^
Reese stepped out of the board room and let the door swing shut behind him. A mild confusion swept over him as he walked down the corridor that would take him into the second-floor lobby. Why would Leonhart send him out of the room? Was there something so sensitive to be discussed that Reese couldn't be a part of it? If so, then that's bullshit. Reese thought. If I'm going to be part of this mission, I should know...
It was then that the thought occurred to him that maybe he was the topic of discussion. He frowned. The thought unsettled him.
He looked up as he neared the end of the hallway. His frown went from being one of annoyance to one of curiosity when he noticed two in-uniform SeeD men standing in the lobby. They started walking in his direction when they saw him, both of them looking at him. They stared at him as the space closed between he and them.
When they came within a few yards of him, Reese slowed to a stop. "Amaerick," One of them greeted him in a decidedly non-friendly tone.
The other SeeD approached more quickly and circled around behind him. He opened his mouth to respond somehow, but before any words came to him he felt his hands being forcefully yanked together behind him and cold metal against his wrists. Am I being cuffed?! The whole maneuver was swift and completely unexpected. By the time he realized what was being done to him, it was too late to be stopped.
"What is this?!" He snapped at the SeeD in front of him. He jerked his body, trying to get the man behind him to release his grip. The man simply jerked him in response and tightened his grip.
The SeeD offered no immediate response and instead lifted his hand toward Reese and whispered something. Reese felt some of his energy instantly drain away as a heavy Silence spell tunneled into his chest. He felt the energy his magic gave him drain away slowly and frowned deeply at the man who'd taken it, furious beyond words but now weakened.
"You have orders by Headmaster Leonhart to cooperate with us, Reese Amaerick." The SeeD spoke. "This is a civilian building. If you do not cooperate, further measures may be taken."
Reese gritted his teeth. "Orders by Leonhart? What are you talking about?!" Neither of them chose to respond. Instead they each wordlessly took one of his arms and lead him down the hallway at a forced walk.
"What is going on?" Reese demanded angrily. "I have the right to know. What is going on?!" His hard tone was approaching a yell. They wouldn't even look at him, much less respond. They walked him through the lobby and into an elevator. "Where are you taking me?!" He persisted.
"Quiet," One of them spat. "You're disrupting the peace."
The elevator doors slid shut.
"Fuck the peace!" Reese fired back, wrestling away violently and stumbling back against the elevator wall. His eyes darted between them each wildly. "Tell me what --"
Before he could finish his sentence a powerful Bio spell hit him dead in the face. A tidal wave of nausea surged through his body, throwing his head forward and knocking him off-balance. His legs buckled out from underneath him and he slid down the elevator wall. A few seconds passed with him kneeling like that and struggling with his nausea, until he distantly heard the elevator doors 'ding!' and one of the SeeDs grabbed his arm, hauling him to his feet. He stumbled harshly and dragged his feet as they pulled him out of the elevator and into the first-floor lobby. The Bio spell was sapping at him like a bad flu. Much as he wanted to scream and thrash and fight himself away from them, his entire body was shaking and he could barely walk.
He looked up through half-closed eyes and saw Seifer Almasy standing in the middle of the lobby.
"I'll take him from here... "
For half a second he was released -- and then a firm grip closed around one of his arms.
"Move ahead and make sure the car is prepared."
"Yes, Sir."
Reese sucked in air through a clenched jaw, fighting a vain and angry fight against the weakness in his body. "This isn't right," The words came out in one short breath, slurred and deep. "It isn't right." He glared at the floor and shook his head resolutely as they moved in the direction of the Nobleman's revolving entrance doors.
"You've been accused of organizing the terrorist bombing." Almasy's voice was low and matter-of-fact.
The bombing... Reese shook with anger, but he was too weak and subdued to do much more than bow his head. Hot tears burned behind his eyes, tears of pure and unadulterated fury over what was being done to him and hate for the people who were doing it. I didn't do it. The thought echoed in his head over and over, an indignantly child-like mantra.
"You need to get out of the city." Almasy spoke again, this time his tone even lower.
Escape... ?
Almasy slowed their pace almost to a stop as they came close to the revolving glass doors. Reese felt fingers on his wrists and the cold metal cuffs shifting around against his skin. The angry frown on his brow faltered as he mentally caught up with what was happening. Is he... ? Almasy kept a firm grip on his wrists, but pulled the cuffs away and presumably slipped them into a pocket somewhere because Reese didn't hear them hit the marble floor.
He ushered Reese through the glass doors and into the night. Heart pounding in his chest, Reese peered out to the street and saw a black car with an open passenger door and several SeeDs standing by waiting for him at the curb.
"Go ahead and start the car," Almasy's voice rang out to them.
The car engine fired up. Reese frowned and glanced over his shoulder.
"Freedom will never be handed to you." Almasy hissed. He released his grip on Reese's wrists and gave his back a shove. "Fight for it!" He growled.
The shove almost knocked Reese off balance. His legs were still weak from the Bio and his vision not so good. Shouts and gasps of alarm sounded immediately from the SeeDs present. He stumbled away from Seifer Almasy, mind racing. There was only a moment's hesitation before he veered left, locking himself into a dead sprint down the sidewalk without looking back, having not a clue as to where he was going. The familiar sound of battle erupted behind him, magic cracking and angry shouts echoing off of the massive hotel building and into the night. He half expected to be hit in the back with a Thundaga or a bullet or something at any moment, but he was already halfway down the block and nothing had happened to him yet. He could only assume why not...
Thank you.
He panted and staggered as he ran, the adrenaline pumping through his blood being the only thing keeping his weak body from tripping and flailing to the ground. He turned abruptly as soon as he spotted an alley and disappeared.
*sounds the Seifer/Reese YAOI TIME! alarm*
