Gone shrugged, all that really meant was that he had a whole candybar to himself. And of course that was a good thing. He could never have too many sweets. Gone looked about him at Esthar, he had grown up here, but it wasn’t home. He shrugged at his thoughts, it was a big city and he didn’t know his way around. He’d never paid much attention to anything on the ground.
“Well,” Gone said cheerfully, “Since no one really knows their way around, why don’t we just pick a direction and go. We’ll get there eventually. I know time is important but it’s not like we can exactly ask for directions, which might tip DotNA off. So left or right?”

Reese simply stared at Gone for a few moments, pondering how the hell Gone made SeeD.
"...well, Vacc, I suppose if you want to wander around the city look for Erple Way for the next month, you're certainly welcome to it. I want to complete the mission, though, so I'll be asking for directions...DotNA won't catch on to anything, Esthar is gigantic, there's probably people asking directions for here and there, everyday."

Diwata chuckled at Reese’s last comment. /Right, right...Of all the places why the underground tunnel? I see...Maybe the two of them are just close to each other by nature, or could it be that they have a deep dark past ‘together’, or it could be--/
Or it could be that they have their own moronic world...? Stardust crossed her arms and leaned her weight on one side.

Not only from the way they look; but from the way they act as well. Who wouldn’t suspect them? What if one of them was the traitor Headmaster Leonhart was talking about. Or what if both of them were?

"Then why the hell are we even following you, Reese, if you don't know where you're going?" Xarin sneered after hearing his name mentioned in passing far too often, turning his glare on the man he spoke to, "For the one who took the lead of this. . . group, you do seem to get lost easily. It's only Esthar, oh fearless leader, not too much should have changed."
Then the alchemist turned to Alaxia, his control of Anubis growing stronger as he spoke, "Oh, you can always talk to me. I can't say that I'll listen, or that I'll even care, but you can always try. Right now, though, the best thing for someone like you to do would be to leave me alone."
"And Dan, thank-you," Xarin finished, smiling wanly at the other as he tucked the photo bag into his belt along with the other sachels he carried. With that done, Xarin walked closer to the lead of the pack and gazed skyward, his thoughts finally his own. Once this was all over, he'd probably go to his children, now that he knew they were safe. Yes, that's what he'd do.

Then the alchemist turned to Alaxia, his control of Anubis growing stronger as he spoke. "Oh....you can always talk to me. I can't say that I'll listen, or even care, but you can always try." He scowled at her. "But right now, the best thing for someone like you to do would be to go....away."
Alaxia blinked, then winced slightly as Lamara forced her way into her mind. Alaxia bowed her head and hissed softly.
Lamara, what are you doing?!
/.......Nothing too bad,/ Lamara replied with a dark laugh.
Don't you dare--!
Alaxia slowly raised her head, tilting it to one side, then the other as she cracked her neck. Then she turned to Xarin, her whole demeanor cold, and black.

Reese clenched his jaw. He felt as if he'd bust a vein. He took a step toward Xarin.
"Look, you pathetic son of a b!tch, I was your guide to Esthar. We're here now. I did my job, so you can just shut the fvck up about this leader sh!t. I'm not your leader, and getting this sorry ass group to that laboratory is not my responsibility.
"And it's not really your place to take a tone like that with me in the first place, is it Mahou? What have you done, aside from b!tch and moan and glare at everyone?! Nothing. You haven't done jack sh!t, so take your place at the back of the herd and close the hole in your face."
He glanced around, addressing everyone. "Now, I'm going to find this lab and get this forsaken mission over with. You're welcome to come along, but don't depend on me. Don't look to me for guidance, because I'm not anyones guide anymore."
He glanced around one last time and set off at a walk down the blue translucent road.

After Reese said that he could, if he wanted to spend months looking for the place, wander randomly around. Gone started to panic quietly in his head. They couldn’t ask for directions! They were MEN! MEN! Men didn’t ask for directions! Of course, it was Reese. Reese was a sensitive guy, who could quite possibly embroider in his spare time. And then he looked at the other two ‘men’ in the group. Dan and Xarin. They didn’t act like men, more like giggling schoolgirls passing notes in class, whispering together in the hall, making a.sses of themselves mooning over lost loves and whatnot. Of course he, wasn’t exactly a macho man, but he was more manly than them. He was a mechanic, and everyone knows mechanics are real men.
“How about we just find a directory and look for Erple Way? A big city like this sure has one, isn’t it?” Stardust suggested.
Gone, thanked Hyne for creating Stardust. “Love, that’s a great idea! Totally brilliant!”
Xarin then began to complain or something, Gone wasn’t really listening until Reese starting cussing a blue streak.

“So, we should find a busy square, street or something, since that’s probably where we’ll find a directory, eh?” He asked everybody

Gone turned as he heard Dan say something of little importance, it was prolly some touchy-feely crap that made Gone shudder on the inside worse the biting nagging of his great grandmother. Or it would be like, now let’s behave children. And that would cause Gone to snort, like he was any better than them. Gone did a mental impression of Dan ‘Oh my, my teammates are killing each other. I’ll have a Sunday chat with Xarin.’
It is a sign of mental unstableness to plan out conversations that haven’t happened. Arianrhod said irritably. Gone snorted derisively at his GF.
"Look, I think we should just go find a directory--or at least work out where the hell Erple Way is from here, and head in the general direction. We'll stumble across it sooner or later anyway," Dan said.
Gone was very disappointed that none of the things he imagined would happen did. So he decided that it was only fair he annoy Dan for depriving himself of an opportunity to goad him. So Gone jumped in front of Dan and struck his most effeminite, girlish pose and started out in a squeaky high pitched voice.
“Why, Danny-boy, you are so smart. However could we young inexperienced idiots, be able to come up with such a smart thing. Hmm… let me think. Oh yeah, dude, as I recall. And my memory ain’t shaky or nothin’. But didn’t Stardust just say that? Shouldn’t you be agreeing with her, instead of pretending you thought of it first?” Gone finished in his normal light tenor.
Must you always pick fights. Arianrhod said sharply.
Well, only when I’m bored. And as we aren’t fighting and Reese hasn’t said anything for me to gripe about, I have to annoy someone. I can’t annoy Jun anymore, she gives me yummy stuff for my tummy.

Jun crossed her arms and watched silently as the rest of the team squabbled. She found it hard to retain the sigh straining to be expelled from her mouth.
“How about we just find a directory and look for Erple Way? A big city like this sure has one, isn’t it?” She returned her gaze back at her teammates.
That sounds like a good suggestion. She nodded at Stardust to demonstrate her concurrence with her plan.
There was some more squabbling. Wisely, Jun decided not to contribute to it, pursing her mouth tightly shut and trying to block it all out.
Cos it damn sure is giving me a headache. She groaned.
Reese glanced around, addressing everyone. "Now, I'm going to find this lab and get this forsaken mission over with. You're welcome to come along, but don't depend on me. Don't look to me for guidance, because I'm not anyones guide anymore."
"Well, you did get us into Esthar. And that's the most important thing..."
She threw a backward glance.
"...Unlike some who do nothing but moan and groan."

Her attention was rudely caught by Gone's squealy tone, evidently intended to poke fun at Dan.

Without waiting for a reply, she turned on her heel and stalked down the path, where Reese was walking down.

"Gonna give my sister a ring. She might be able to give us at least a general direction to head or something..." he said aloud. Reese reached into his pocket and withdrew his small black cellphone. He hit a button, re-dial, and held it to his ear. Someone picked up.
"How's Somie doing?" he asked.
"I'm sorry Reese the plan blew...her body wasn't in the remains of the building, she had to have escaped." a man replied.
Reese wanted to curse. "Listen, you know where Erple Way is?"
/I can't believe you're calling Mitch right in front of all these SeeDs Reesie!!/
I'm calling my sister, remember?
"Oh yeah we heard about Somie giving those SeeDs directions to Ambassador Coroneire's lab. That's fvckin' hilarious man. Somie probably thinks she's being all helpful. Xu's little b!tch, that's what she is. We'll get her next time Reese."
Yeah or it's your head thats going to be delivered to Adel. Reese thought, his grip on the phone tightening. "Okay well thanks anyway, talk to you some other time Teela."
"Teela? Oh that one's goin' in the books." Mitch laughed and hung up. Reese put the phone back into his pocket.

"Seems we've become extraordinarily lucky. Either that or Hyne pities us." Reese stated aloud so everyone could hear as he slowed to a halt and turned to face them. "We're going to need some kind of plan before we go in. Braze little Zacke may like the 'bust down the door and attack everything in sight' method, but I don't think that will get us very far.
"If Ediendelle's Emerald is indeed inside, they're going to have a lot of security."

Reese's eyebrows came together in a frown. "I don't have contacts. I just said, that was my sister. She lives here, I thought she'd know where Erple Way is. Unfortunatly she lives on the eastern side of the city and therefore is unfamiliar with most of the small, less frequented roads of the western side." he replied coolly.
"And if you're implying something else, Alaxia, why don't you just come out and say it now? I'd love to hear your suspicions about me, because I'm sure they're just so true." he drawled sarcastically.
/Let's just kill them all and go get the Emerald ourselves Reesie, this is just ri-fvcking-diculous!!/

“So does your sister look good in a bikini?” Gone asked good-naturedly. It really put him on edge that everyone was suspicious of everyone else. SeeDs don’t betray SeeDs. He thought vehemently.
“And Erple way is just right there, man are we lucky, or are we lucky?” He asked no one in particular. “We are so going to beat the other team here. We could have Stardust, Jun and Alaxia hit on the guards and distract them while we sneak in some side door.” He suggested starting off towards Erple Way.
“Although maybe we should get a look at the building before we make plans. That might be a good idea.” He tossed over his shoulder.

Stardust took a few steps ahead of the group as she tried to eye a somewhat run-down factory from where she was.
Is that it? Stardust surmised. From this far, the building seemed abandon but she could be sure that there was more to it than met the eye. They wouldn't just let it sit like that if the Emerald was really inside. Which she knew that it was.
/Seeing that it's the only building that looks sinister in this part of the alley...That's probably it./
"We're going to need some kind of plan before we go in..." She vaguely heard Reese announce from behind her.
We got here undetected so we have to go in undetected as well, she thought as Dan suggested something that sounded unconvincing to her. They were already divided and finding plans on the building seemed a lot more work. And who knows? Maybe he was suggesting it for him to have another private talk with Xarin about something. Point was, she wasn't about to trust anything that came from this man or his 'friend', Xarin.
"Does anything I've said sound feasible?" Dan said afterwards.
Going around at the back sounds good to me...
/Ahh...the good ol’ sneak-in-the-back approach./ Diwata said.
I’ll go with that. Stardust turned her head to approach the others.
"I got an idea," she said, stopping between Alaxia and Reese, unintentionally interrupting anything that was going on between them.
"Security is always weak at the back. If we go around the building, we might find a place where we could sneak inside. What do you think?" she asked them, completely ignoring Dan's suggestion earlier.
