Zacke raised an eyebrow at Hadrian's comment, glancing back at Stella, sort of relieved that she only rolled her eyes. If he'd said something like that about Stardust or Blaze... Reflecting on all the new girls he'd met lately, it seemed like the "normals" had actually started to outnumber the "crazies" on this mission. Of course it had to be in my absence.
He laughed at Stella's joke about Hadrian's dance ineptitude, watching her steal a fry. It didn't bother him at all--it actually kind of made him feel more comfortable with her. She seemed really laid-back.
"So Stardust tells me your name is Zacko... "
He looked up, and for a split-second he was caught completely off guard by the remark. He recovered quickly, trying to hide how it irritated him. She would probably like that. So of course he couldn't let it.
"Hah, she thinks she's witty. It's actually Zacke." he smirked and shook his head, looking down at his tray. Nope, Stardust hadn't changed one bit. He looked back up at Stella. "You should probably just disregard whatever she's told you about me. She has a loud mouth and just so happens to hate me." he looked down at his tray again and selected a fry.
"Don't know why Celestial Ashes is cracking name-jokes anyway..." he murmured to himself, before popping the fry into his mouth.
"Cos it doesn't match with my motto that food should look like food and not something a pet threw up."
Lawric smirked mid-chew, meeting Jun's gaze. Probably a motto I should adopt. He placed the sandwich back down onto the tray as he swallowed, then lifted his iced tea and took a big drink in effort to wash down the unsavory taste left in his mouth.
"Jaime," he cleared his throat quietly, looking sideways and downward. "Deo and Van are taking a while. Should one of us go check on them?"
He glanced at her tray, hoping she would volunteer herself. The minute she left, that chicken salad was his.
Jun burst out giggling. She usually wasn't this out of control but the two Opps members were just cracking her up. She didn't know if Jaime did it on purpose but anyone who noticed would've seen Lawric eyeing her chicken salad with intent of pillaging it.
"If...if you were so desperate for food you could've asked her." She managed to squeeze out a sentence in between the giggles. "H...here, take this." She handed a plate of chocolate cake that was still untouched. "I hope you have a sweet tooth though, it's infamously rich."

HAHAHAHAHAHA *wheezes* XD Stella and Zacke crack me up --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hadrian laughed at Stella's comment about him dancing like a walrus. Damn it. Did this girl ever see me dance? he thought deep inside. How did she know he couldn't dance? He figured it was better to not give anything more away. He shifted his attention to Zacke who bestowed an interesting name on Stardust. Celestial Ashes. He would admit that was way better sounding than "Stardust." If the pinkhead girl wouldn't like it then she was whacked.
"Celestial Ashes?" Hadrian said, grinning. "Hah, that actually sounds better than her real name. I'll pay you fifty gils if you can call her that." He leaned on the table and heard someone giggling this time. It was...Jun?
Hadrian almost didn't notice them, but it seemed like Jun and the new guy, Lawric had their own world. Huh? He blinked, not noticing that Jaime was there with them a moment ago. What was going on?
"H...here, take this." Jun handed Lawric a plate of chocolate cake that was still untouched. "I hope you have a sweet tooth though, it's infamously rich." It was weird to see Jun giggling. Not that she was always frowning like Stardust or Polaris, of course.
"Wow, for me?" Hadrian innocently asked, pinching a piece of chocolate cake even before Lawric could get his hands on it. The cake was surprisingly sweeter than he had expected. She eats this thing?
"Mmm," He chomped. "This stuff makes you hyper, you know that?" He looked at Jun and licked the choco frosting on his thumb.
---------------------- Sorry everyone, Hadrian is annoying. >.O
The laugh froze on Jun's lips when an unexpected thumb nicked a corner off the slice of chocolate cake. Hadrian had intercepted the transfer process like a hacker..well an occupational hazard for him, she supposed.
"You know, I never expected you to be one with a sweet tooth, Hadrian. You strike me as more of a fries kinda guy." Jun smirked at him, "I think Zacke would be generous enough to offer you some of his? If you're so hard up on gil to buy your own." She narrowed her glance at Hadrian. "And I remember you still owe me ten bucks."
Lawric eyebrows raised slightly when Jun slid the sizable slice of chocolate cake toward him. He started to be all polite and decline, thinking he shouldn't be taking her food, and blah blah blah. But before the words could even come to his lips, a finger reached out and swiped off the corner of it.
"This stuff makes you hyper, you know that?"
He looked up at the guy. Umm... ?
"You know, I never expected you to be one with a sweet tooth, Hadrian. You strike me as more of a fries kinda guy." Jun remarked with a smirk. Lawric glanced between the two. "I think Zacke would be generous enough to offer you some of his? If you're so hard up on gil to buy your own." She narrowed her glance at Hadrian. "And I remember you still owe me ten bucks."
"As long as no one touches this hamburger... this baby is all mine." Zacke said, before taking a bite that was way too big.
Lawric raised an eyebrow. He looked back down at the cake. He wasn't really in the mood for something sweet, he wanted something filling that wouldn't make him sick. He hadn't had a good meal since... Since before...
The thought sort of worked up his nerves, which had been considerably calm so far; probably due to Jaime's familiar presence, and the pleasant distraction that was Jun. He glanced toward the cafeteria door, wondering how long his friends would be. Looking back at Jun, he managed a smile. "Thanks. But I think I'll just get another meal." He cleared his throat softly and stood. "Want me to grab you anything?"
"Get us all a fries to share." Jun grinned up at Lawric's offer to grab something else. "Zacke's fries is dwindling."
She swivelled her head to look at Hadrian.
"As for you...you get to finish ALL of that." She pointed at the chocolate cake. "I don't care if it's too sweet. And don't expect me to touch it, I don't even know if you've washed your hands after going to the toilet." She scrunched up her nose in mock disgust. "And don't you dare waste a perfectly good chocolate cake."
Lawric smirked, hearing Jun verbally whip Hadrian as he moved away from the table and back toward the lunch line. So amiable--but she sure knows how to nag. She could pull it off cutely, though, he decided.
French fries, french fries...
He got into line and looked ahead what he could see. The tuna sandwich had been something he just sort of grabbed last-minute. Not because he was picky--he actually wasn't picky at all. Just indecisive. This was his second time around; he had seen just about everything, and he still wasn't sure what he wanted.
He sighed through his nose, now at a position in line where he could see practically everything through the glass. Egg salad, hotdogs and corndogs, sushi rolls, french fries... He grabbed one of the plastic baskets of french fries and kept looking, moving along with the line. Vegetable rice pilaf, turkey sandwich, pizza... His eyes scanned over everything, the plethora of choices almost overwhelming to him.
And now he was at the dessert section, and still nothing chosen. He followed the line through and handed the cafeteria lady working the register a few gil notes. Exhaling a discontented sigh, he headed back to the table with the fries only.
I guess I'll be visiting the dormitory vending machines at 3am because my growling stomach won't let me sleep. He thought, almost annoyed with himself.
Stella felt herself truly laughing for the the first time in a very long time. These people were actually nice. It was nice to have a grin on her face instead of the scowl that usually accompanied her when she was on a mission. It was nice to be able to relax.
"Your on Hady" she winked at him between bites of pizza, "I'll ask Celestial Ashes to dance at the ball and call her just that. So you better have that 50 gil ready"
"Stardust really didn't say all that much about you and even if she had I prefer to make my own judgments about people" Stella spoke turning back to Zacke with a shrug. She glanced up at his face and grinned spotting a smear of ketchup across his cheek from the too big bite he had just taken.
Leaning across the table she swiped her thumb along his skin catching the ketchup. With a grin she lifted it to her lips and sucked her thumb clean as she settled back down in her chair.
Vanesse was spacing out once again when the elevator chimed for the second time. Instinctively, she turned around and was surprised to see a really tall, blonde SeeD from the head office.
"Whoa, what are you rooting here for? Admiring the scenery?" he asked the her. "If you're not careful you might get trampled on." He finished with a slight smile.
"Trampled on?" Vanesse repeated, creasing her forehead through a grin. Aside from the girls, she really didn't have a decent interaction with the guys. This was probably the first time she spoke to him like this. "That's mean--."
Quick, Paridge! What's his name again? She swore she knew his name if someone reminded her.
"Anyway, Randy! Good thing you're here. You see....We're...uh...lost." She frowned sadly. "We can't find the cafeteria," she ended, scratching her cheek.

The cool metal doors of the elevator slid open. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, Gemma exited the steel chamber and stepped into the dormitory corridor. Pausing for a moment, she took a look around her. Everything seemed to be restored to its original condition, despite previous events. The stains of blood had been removed from the plush lavender carpets, as well as the smooth porcelain walls. The windows, formerly cracked and splintered by gunshots and fallen rubble, now sparkled and gleamed.
There small lump swelled in her chest as she thought of all those who had fallen during the fight . A fight, which all traces of were now lost and would soon be forgotten...
Sighing sadly, she continued her walk down the halls.
Left...Right....Left...Left...3rd door on the right...It was becoming a small chant for her.
Heading into her room, the first thing she did was to turn on her computer. Logging into her SeeD account, she began to filter through the hundreds of emails that flooded her account.
...The 67th Annual Garden Festival Committee would like to invite Ms. Gemma Ridean to be the commencement speaker....
...Due to recent events, the Honorary Blue Mage Society is thrilled to host its next meeting next month and
Balamb Tutors invites more SeeDs to sign up today! Tutors are needed in the fields of Beginning Junctionig 20A and Advanced Junctioning 20C Interdisciplinary Magic 13B, History of Sorceresses 117A...
Gemma shut down the computer. She had enough on her mind. Once and a while, she deserved to have a break, and today that was exactly what she needed.
Sliding open her closet, she pulled out a quarter sleeved knit top and a jean skirt, as well as her favorite pair of boots. And then she did something rather unusual.
As a SeeD rank A, her room was slightly larger than others and as such, was better furnished. That included the full length Dolletian mirror placed in the corner of her room besides her bed.
And now, for the first time she gazed at herself in the mirror.
The face staring back at her was simply ordinary. Brown eyes, brown hair, and slightly crooked teeth that peeked out through thin lips..she could see small worry lines appearing on her forehead.
Alors....essayez decompresser un petit peu...
Hesitantly, she felt the rubber hair band that held her coifed bun. It made her seem so matronly...and well boring. Swiftly she tugged and the band and watched in fascination as the chestnut strands of hair fell over her shoulders and back.
Reaching into her bureau to grab a comb, she brushed her hair until it seemed it was gleaming in the sunlight.
There! At least now she looked a bit more relaxed.
As soon as she stepped outside the door, she was nearly pushed aside as Polaris quickly brushed past her, looking extremely distressed. Gemma frowned as she watched the raven haired SeeD disappear into the hall.
For a second, Gemma thought to follow her to see if she could be of any comfort and then thought better of it. Polaris Lynn would only put up her cold, hard exterior. In fact, despite all that the two of them had gone through together, Gemma wasn't sure she could entirely trust the other SeeD.
Inside the elevator, Gemma lightly pressed the Ground floor button.
Her thoughts were still on Polaris. She suddenly feel ashamed and guilty for thinking such a notion. Polaris, like all of them, had risked her life in order to protect the world from Adel. Of course she could trust her.
I only wish she thought the same for me...
Walking out into the central hallway, she spotted Rayden and Vanesse, who seemed to be struggling to support a slumped-over Deo, near the banisters next to the fountain.
"Anyway, Randy! Good thing you're here." Gemma chuckled. A self-proclaimed "ladies man" would not normally be thrilled to have his name so easily forgotten.
The normally cheerful girl seemed a bit worried.
"You see....We're...uh...lost. We can't find the cafeteria."
"Hey!" Gemma waved at the small trio. "I'm heading there right now, if you want to come with me."
Randy? Rayden's smile became forced. I look like a Randy to her?
"Oh it's Rayden, babe. But if you fancy calling me Randy I'm fine by it."
At Gemma's appearance he brightened up a tad. Nothing like the company of two pretty girls to lift his mood, he decided. "Come on, let's get some grub. And I suppose you need help with him." He nodded towards Deo, stepped up and slid the snoring Deo onto his back, staggering a little under the weight. "let's go." He started leading the way.
"Stardust really didn't say all that much about you and even if she had I prefer to make my own judgments about people"
Wow, someone other than Jun who possesses a rational thought process. He thought, struggling to chew the mouthful he'd committed himself to. Stella seemed pretty cool.
She grinned suddenly, and before he even had time to wonder what it was he had on his face, she'd reached a hand out and swiped it off. His eyebrows raised ever so slightly as he watched her nonchalantly suck it off of her thumb.
Okay, Stella seemed really cool.
"Zacke, I didn't know you were a babe magnet." He heard Jun tease, and at the words he felt a hot flush creeping it's way up his neck. "It seems under that good-boy veneer you're just as studly as, I dunno, Irvine Kinneas?"
/Oh Hyne./ If Iris had eyes, they'd be rolling circles in their sockets.
"Hah," He laughed and looked down at his tray, choosing a fry. Wow, umm, definitely a first. "So Stella, tell me," he glanced up with a smirk. "Are you always this awesome to be around?" he popped the fry into his mouth.
