Born to one of the most affluent families of Esthar, Gemma is demure, refined, and somewhat shy. Considered to the the "good child" of the family, she possesses a sweet and gentle disposition, often able to control her emotions. It's only her brother who can reveal her more temperamental side. With an education from the most esteemed Estharian scholars, she is extremely intelligent academically, with a strong gift for linguistics. Despite the brains, she is bit naive and over-trusting, coming from such a sheltered background.
History:
Gemma was born in the heart of Esthar. Carrying the esteemed name, "Ridean" she was admmitted into a life of luxury and comfort. Her father was on the Estharian council, while her mother was the owner of the trendiest boutiques carrying Estharian fashion. Yet despite all of it, she often felt like she was missing out on the greater part of life. As a child, she grew up isolated from the other kids, as she privately tutored. Rather than playmates, she took solace in books, and she developed a thirst for reading. Because of her behavior, others began to think of her as delicate and fragile, only fit to be taken care of by others. Driven to prove them otherwise, Gemma convinced her parents to allow her to take lessons in the art of weaponry. Her first weapon was the flail. Just like her other subjects, she used her analytical skills to break down the fighting tactics until she truly excelled at it. By the time she was 13, Gemma had already won numerous competitions and had showcased her skills in several exhibitions. However, while her parents believed that would be enough, Gemma felt disgusted by the frivolity of her fighting, and was compelled to put them to practical use. Only her brother understood her needs, and it would be because of Jax that Gemma would enter a military school.
When the Adel War broke out, Jax was sent to Trabia Garden, in the aspiration that he could join SeeD and perhaps become a military leader in the future. When Gemma heard news of this, she insisted that she be allowed to attend the Garden as well. However, her parents refused, until Jax convinced them to. So finally, brother and sister walked through the gates of Garden together. At 16, Gemma was a little older than some of the other cadets. However, she soon advanced in the ranks and pulled SeeD at the age of 17.

This is a modification of Gemma's original flail. Keeping the same barb, the chain has been shortened dramatically and the handle elongated, almost like a staff, allowing for better control and faster hits.
Weapon History:
After years of training with her flail, Gemma discovered that she was weak when forced to fight against a short-ranged enemy. She took her flail to a weapons store where it was remodeled.

Upon summoning Calypso, a large moon appears, and her figure is reflected in the moonlight. She blows a kiss and shroud of fog swarms around all enemies, casting on them Silence, Confuse, and Poison.

Calypso is very mysterious and and secretive. Not so talkative with the other GF's, she does enjoy speaking with Gemma privately.

1. What Garden is your character from?
Gemma was admitted to Trabia Garden.
2. What kind of student is your character?
Gemma is the model student, always eager to learn. As a result, she receives stellar marks on her written test but is lacking a bit on the practical part. However, she displays a strong aptitude in magic casting, and languages. (Gemma is fluent in three dialects of Shumi, and Centran)
3. Why does your character fight against Adel?
Through her own research, Gemma has discovered the threat of Adel upon her hometown, in particular to her own parents, as they were close to the former President Laguna. She is also aware of the havoc Adel may create across the world, and hopes to put a stop to her path of destruction.
4. What three colors are best associated with your character and why?
white - others perceive her to be innocent, pure
brown - she is calm, collected (and its the color of her eyes and hair!)
yellow - peaceful, warm
5. How many romantic relationships has your character had? Were any of them significant in molding your character? If so, describe in detail the relationship your character had with their significant other(s) and explain how those people and interactions have helped shape their personality.
Back in Esthar, Gemma never had the time to get involved into a relationship. However, she did have a crush on the young man that worked in the Esthar Bookshop (he recommended to her a riveting book). Now even though she's at Garden, Gemma does no more than a few flirtations now and then, but would rather focus on her studies. Plus, she only seems to attract the brown-nosers of Trabia.

Losing control over a situation.
