Personality
Star Sign: Taurus
Personality: Lawric is pretty laid back. He doesn't have a very hot temper, he's usually pretty stable. He doesn't enjoy verbal conflict at all and tries to avoid it. I would say he chooses his words and his battles wisely. He's more of a thinker, content to sit back for a while and just keep an eye on things as they pan out. Rude remarks and even blantant insults his way are likely to get laughed off or just ignored, because he just doesn't concern himself with it enough to really get angry. In fact, the only time I think he would really involve himself in a confrontation, is if someone were picking on Jaime or Van. In that instance, whoever the bully is better hope they either fight well or run fast.
I would say his main strength is his ability to adapt to different people and situations. His mellow personality combined with a lot of patience allow him to blend in and roll with the punches quite easily. He also has a natural knack when it comes to social interactions and figuring people out. He's not extremely book-smart, but he's very culturally and socially adept.
His main flaw is probably his decision-making abilities--or, I should say, lake thereof. He's kind of a drifter. Well, not "kind of." Before he joined the Opps, he literally was a drifter. If not for Deo, Jaime, and Van, he would have no direction in his life. He's not always sure of himself, and thinks so much that his opinions change a lot. He makes a good nomad... haha.
History: (Please include how and why they joined their Garden and how they became one of the top seeDs in their Garden):
Lawric grew up in Dollet, the youngest of four and the only boy. He had a pretty average life, no traumatic events scarred him or anything like that. Being that he was the youngest, he was kind of babied by his mom. And being the only boy, he was always kind of favored or spoiled by his dad. His parents weren't rich or anything, so it's not like he was showered with whatever he wanted. But his upbringing still had some adverse effects on him. He slacked off in school and gradually developed somewhat of a superiority complex, especially with his sisters.
As he grew into young adulthood, his 'tude was getting a little out of hand. He had come to the point where he was even disrespecting his submissive mother. They sat down with him, and collectively the three of them agreed that it might be best for him to drop out of school and attend a Garden. The idea of becoming a SeeD appealed to him more than college, and the idea of him getting out of Dollet and maturing into a man appealed to his parents. He left for Trabia Garden when he was seventeen.
Trabia forced him to abandon his superior attitude and grow up. He took up training with an axe, and also took a voluntary elective course working in the Trabia Garden Transport Garage, helping repair messed up airships and vehicles. His father was an engineer and had been on the panel that rebuilt the Dollet Comm Tower (in FFVIII, it went kaboom!). So growing up with that influence sort of piqued his interest in seeing how things work and knowing how to fix them. His duration of time at the military school really mellowed him out and matured him.
Despite his efforts, he failed three SeeD tests. The first two were mainly due to lack of respect for authority. The last one, he just chalks up to bad luck. Growing exhausted with the narrow-minded and militaristic ways of Garden, and also repeatedly failing according to their standards, he ditched at 19. Unwilling to return home and face his parents with his failure, he became sort of a vagabond. He traveled a lot from city to city with no real purpose in mind. I guess he just felt like seeing the world. He did a variety of things to afford his travels. Disposed of pesky monsters for rural villagers, washed dishes in city restaurants... he even sang karaoke for a group of women at a bar once. Took a few drinks to get him to do it, but eventually he did. XD
Passing through Balamb once, one of Signe's flyers caught his eye. He'd been drifting from place to place since he left Garden, and he was now 22 years old. He was getting kind of bored, and kind of tired. Being a part of something meaningful inspired him, and he joined up. That's when he met Deo, Jaime, and Van. Gradually they came to live together, and it's been a year now that he's been with them.
Moral standards: I guess his basic morals revolve around "karma." Treat people with respect and they should return the favor. He doesn't really go out of his way to help people, though, unless it's like a little kid or an old lady HAHA XD
Goals: Just to help Deo, Van, and Jaime out. He has no long-term goals. -_- thoughtless vagabond.
Likes: Jaime's cooking, newspapers, having conversations with interesting and/or weird people... Like those ladies that sit on benches and feed squirrels at parks, he's just the type of guy to sit down next to them and start a conversation for no reason. -_-
Dislikes: people fighting with eachother, materialistic people, culturally intolerant people, seeing Van upset or sad, when Deo eats all the pancakes...
Hobbies/Talents: He's kind of a handy-man when it comes to repairing automotives and airships. He's not exactly charming, but he's good at getting along with lots of different types of people. He stayed with the Shumi for a few months once, and understands a bit of their language.
Quote(s)/ Lyric(s) to describe your character:
Theme song(s):
Technical
Weapon name:
Nauthiz.Weapon Description/ picture:
Weapon History: He chose
Nauthiz when he went to Garden. There was a Weapons Monthly with an article about axes issued out right about the time he was needing to choose a weapon and start training for battle. It seemed like an intimidating weapon, so he just ordered it. Originally it was just a standard axe. He has since upgraded it in various ways and made it more unique to him.
Limit Breaks (maximum 2):
True Berserker. Basically, he's goes into a state of total, rageful uncontrol, and gets a little carried away with that big honkin' axe. Lawric rarely ever hits his limit simply because with the personality he has it's extremely hard for him to get that worked up. Buuut when he does it's usually ugly, and it takes the last thread of self-control he has in him to be sure he doesn't accidently lop off a friend's head during the heat of the moment.
Magic (choose three from the game): Protect, Dispel, Curaga
Items (choose three):
Specialties (hacking, thievery etc.): Can repair most Garden model airships and vehicles. Culturally versed.
Guardian Force name/appearance:
Skadi. There is a pic below to reference, but don't let that serene doe-eyed look fool you. She is a wild, bloodthirsty valkyrie queen.
Guardian Force’s attack:
Thirst for the Hunt. Skadi's attack is pretty chaotic, as it pretty much alters the battle environment for the duration of the summon, and is extremely loud and tumultous. First the winds around pick up and carry in snowflakes, and bare dark trees gradually appear (but they're only illusion, not tangible, so in the midst of battle people won't run into these or anything they just sort of get in the way of clear sight). Wolves and howling phantom valkyrie stampede in through the "forest," jaws gnashing and weapons flying, basically storming whatever enemies Larwic is against. Eventually Skadi herself rides in atop a large white wolf, swinging a mace and shrieking battle cries. When the summon is over, everything basically fades away, leaving many enemies damaged.
For Lawric, summoning Skadi is somewhat of a last-resort, because Skadi herself gets carried away and cannot be bothered to make sure her wolves and valkyries don't accidently harm an ally of his. It's not an extremely powerful GF, just an extremely reckless one. Not always worth the risk involved.
Guardian Force’s personality: Skadi is insane. In fact, when he's doing something he needs to concentrate on, he actually has to unjunction her because of her screaming alone. She yells at him, yells at the people around him (even though they obviously can't hear her), yells battle cries for no apparent reason... she uses crude language, snarls, and makes almost animalistic noises from time to time. Her bad manners could be compared to Blaze's, I guess. XD It's just ridiculously obnoxious. Luckily, Lawric is gifted with a great measure of patience. So I guess she works out for him.
In Depth Character Study
1. What Garden is your character from? N/A
2. What kind of student is your character? N/A
3. Why does your character fight against Adel? N/A... he never fought Adel. lmao
4. What three colors are best associated with your character and why?
Brown - Brown makes me think of earth, the outdoors... Lawric is a nomad at heart, he likes to be all over the place. It also makes me think of something neutral and calming, and I think his presence is kind of like that.
White - White can symbolize peace and simplicity, and I think Lawric's life before all of this stuff happened to him, was basically peaceful and simple. He did what he want, wherever he wanted. Even when he joined the Opps, things were simple for him.
Green - This color can represent renewal or rebirth. I don't think I need to explain why the themes of renewal or rebirth suit Lawric, it's pretty obvious. >.>
5. How many romantic relationships has your character had? Were any of them significant in molding your character? If so, describe in detail the relationship your character had with their significant other(s) and explain how those people and interactions have helped shape their personality.
Lawric hasn't really had any romantic relationships, actually. And you would think with all the traveling he would have been involved in a few scandalous one-night affairs or something, but he's really not that sort of guy. He's pretty respectful, even to women who don't respect themselves.
Honestly, when he's really attracted to a girl, he can become sort of shy and withdrawn around her.
Sidenote: Back when he first joined the Opps and moved into the house with them, I think for a few weeks he had a teensy crush on Jaime. XD But it was one of those awkward sorta things that he feels weird thinking about now, because she's just a friend.
6. What is your character’s biggest fear?
He just doesn't want anything to happen to his fellow Opps.
7. What is the one thing—whether it be a person or an object—that your character absolutely, positively cannot live without?
It'd be pretty hard for him to part with Nauthiz.
8. What are you character’s favorite foods?
He's eaten weird food from all over the place. He's not picky. He is proud to be Jaime's new-recipe "guinea pig." Pretty much everything she's ever put in front of him, he's loved.
9. What are some embarrassing things about your character that he/she would never admit?
That night he sang karaoke for those rowdy women in Deling... he also took off his shirt and unzipped his pants. -_- *shakes head at him* Alcohol is no excuse, young man.
10. What makes your character a vital asset to the team?
Blah, idk. XD He has a big honkin' axe?
