Jun pretend to ignore Gone, for she thought she didn't have enough breath left to sigh upon.
"Besides, this man is supposed to be really old, since he was already old when Headmaster Squall met him? That's what the rumours say anyway. So there might be a chance of getting some precious info from him about the Emerald, instead of just trying to produce something from our collective heads when we have no clue where to start." Jun said, looking at Zacke for a reply.

"You just have to get the last word, don't you?!" Reese said to her.
Stardust stared ahead. She took another bite on her burger and chewed it a little faster. Hearing his light expression, Reese really wasn't taking anything against her. People hold a grudge against her when she said something sarcastic to them. But this guy, he was different.
"Of course," she said, meeting his glance. She swallowed her food then continued, "And I do get away." A soft smirk lined the corner of her mouth. She didn't mean that.
The warm, ocean breeze blew past them, plastering her shirt to her back. She brushed a stray bang away from her eyes and gazed at the sea. The wind was blowing towards it. And still no sign of the airship. She took another bite out of her burger.
/Is it good?/ Diwata asked.
No....yes, it is. Will you shut up?
Stardust clutched the doggie bag with her free hand and slid it to the rail towards Reese.
"Burger?" she asked munching.

Reese resisted the urge to smile when he saw her mouth carefully play into a smirk, a smirk that showed she was kidding.
"No thanks, I don't eat meat." he answered, shaking his head slightly.
Just as he turned his head back to the horizon, a large airship touched down on landing pad faroff. It would be quite a walk to get to it, but it was certainly a Balamb Garden airship and definitely meant for them.
"Looks like our ride is here. I wonder where all the little kiddies ran off to..." Reese commented quietly.

"Where to start.." Blaze echoed Jun just as something slimy thwacked her in the head and oozed to the ground. She stared at the still wiggling worm that was squirming around her feet.
"Sorry miss!" A man around thirty called out. "Musta flown off my hook while I was casting!" He ran over and stuck the worm on the hook of his fishing pole.
"Do that again and I will shove that hook through your cheek." Blaze replied.
"Well, I'm not very good at casting, see.." He turned around and bent to pick up his tackle box, smacking Blaze right in the face with his fishing pole.
"I'm so sorry!" He gasped, dropping his tackle box on the floor. It burst open and various live bait flew in all directions.
Blaze grabbed his fishing pole and snapped it in two. "What the hell kind of fisherman are you?" She asked, holding the two pieces of fishing pole like a weapon.
"Ah.. my pole.. no matter I suppose, I can make another one... wait, what was that you said? You don't know me? Why.. I'm the master fisherman!!" He said proudly, ignoring the worms that were crawling up his pants.
Blaze stared at him like the idiot he was. "But you're too young. The master fisherman is over a hundred."
"Ah.. see I was the master fisherman's apprentice back in the days. he christened me the master after my training was done and disappeared the next day. No one's seen him since, well, except Squall Leonhart. I've heard from my gardener's wife's daughter's friend's husband's piano teacher's brother that Mr. Leonhart spotted him at the Shumi Village pond the other day. He seems to be the only one that's seen him there, though.. and the shumis won't speak a word about the subject. I'm not sure why he'd talk to Squall and not me, his own apprentice."
"It remains a mystery to me as well." Blaze sneered, crossing her arms. "Shumi village? Are you kidding me?" She tried not to let her disappointment show and nodded towards Jun, Gone and Zacke. "I guess we should go then....Reese and Stardust are at the landing pad?"

Stardust stopped munching and stared at Reese.
/He doesn't?/
"You don't?" Both her and Diwata said in unison.
Much as she could react further, she heard a sound of an engine--coming from an airship--a little far ahead of the rail they were leaning on. She looked towards it. It was one of Balamb Garden's airship, slowly descending down the pad to land. At long last, their long awaited ride had come.
Finally.
"Looks like our ride is here. I wonder where all the little kiddies ran off to..." Reese commented quietly.
Stardust sighed loudly. "Those slacking runts," she added and brought the bag closer to her. Heck, she guessed that they would wait again for them to come despite of the fact that she told them to get back before the airship comes.
"I told them to get back here soon...Screw them." She was always waiting. She straightened up, pretended that her back wasn't aching, and started to walk around the rail towards the airship.

Zacke nodded at Blaze. "Yeah...lets get going."
Soon enough everyone arrived at the landing pad. The airship arrived and everyone climbed aboard.
Once everyone was basically settled and the ship was flying through the clouds, on it's way back to Garden, Zacke spoke up, addressing the entire group.
"So, we going straight to Xu's office to explain our empty hands right when we get there?"

Stardust leaned on her seat and averted her gaze from the window to look at Zacke from across her.
That question of his was almost rhetoric.
"Why? Do you have anything else in mind?" she mumbled. "Of course we head straight to the Headmistress's office. Report everything."

Gone leaned back in his seat, strectching his legs out in front of him, absently scratching his abdomin.
"Sure. Hell's always better when you walk into it. 'Stead of letting it track you done." He said, yawning. "Think she'll be lenient and wait till after we eat dinner to chop our heads off? Nothing like a good meal before you die, I always say. I mean I always heard. I've never died before so I wouldn't know, eh?"
Yawning loudly once more, he shut up. Grabbing his mouse out of his pocket, he petted it's little head and tried to convince it to eat a piece of a fry he had saved from lunch for it.

Jun dreaded facing Headmistress Xu more than anything, especially after hearing her disappointment so vividly over the receiver. But she would rather face the music now than stew over a slow fire.
They always say a quick painless death is always better than a slow torturous one.
"Agreed." She said, lifting her glance to trail over her teammates. "Better to get it over with immediately. The longer we drag the harder it is to explain." She finished, absent-mindedly unwrapping a candy bar and munched at it

"Well I don't see how she could have any reason to be mad at us anyway." Zacke commented, a bitter tone in his voice. "I mean, it's her little informant that screwed up the mission, not us. If anyone deserves a beheading it's Laice."
He shrugged and combed a hand threw his hair by force of habit when under stress. "But I guess pointing fingers is a stupid waste of time. It doesn't matter who Xu blames, Xu's temper isn't what worries me. What worries me is the fact that the Emerald is still floating around somewhere out there, the Ruby to boot, and we're running out of time. We've spent these past few days in Esthar and we're no better off than we were when we got there. Hell, we're worse off! We managed to lose our ship. That's...really bad. It's not like losing your keys or wedding ring, it was a fucking ship." Zacke let out a sardonic laugh at their failure.
"But it's really gotten to the point that I don't care about what Xu says. Administrative Headmistress or not, she's not the one out here, gallivanting around from city to city, looking for little rocks. I'm not saying she doesn't work hard, you can see the kind of stress she's under just looking at the woman, but she still doesn't understand what it's like to be in our shoes, so she has no right to do any kind of scolding or lecturing. We were misdirected. End of story. If no one else wants to tell that to her face then let me." Zacke's arms were crossed, a kind of determined frown etched into his features.

Gone dragged his attention away from mouse to listen to Zacke. He made sense. Of course it wasn't their fault. They just followed bad orders and bad info. How could they be blamed for that?
"Oh!" Gone exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear, "Let me tell her. It'll be wicked fun."

"Tch. Tch. So you say." Gone said dismissively. "I'm positive Xu will be so charmed by whatever I say, she'll forget about being angry or disappointed for not returning with the rock. I'm not totally incompent... it just appears that way. And if I can't charm Xu's socks off..." Gone shrugged, "No harm, no foul."
Looking at Zacke, Gone raised his hands in front of him, "Alright, alright... I'll try to act like a mature adult. It can't be that hard. And 'sides I'm all for new experiences."

Reese slid his back down the wall, coming to a sitting position with his legs bent in front of him, arms resting on his knees, hands falling limp. His face was completely blank, void of expression. He rested his forehead upon his knees and let out a strange growl-sigh.
